Leamington Food and Drink Festival
This weekend Kate and I decided to go to Leamington Food and Drink Festival. Now in its 10th year, this event is a favourite in the local foodie calendar as it brings many great local food and drink businesses, along with some from further afield, to the Pump Room Gardens in Leamington Spa. With over 150 exhibitors there is something to get even the most picky of eaters excited.
This free event even caters for the future foodie with a kids cookery school hosted by some of the restaurants within Leamington Spa.There is a live cookery theatre where local chefs demonstrate their culinary skills, a home cook of the year competition where this year’s competitors must impress the judges with a cold starter, a hot main using ‘Farm Assured’ Cornish Lamb supplied by Aubrey Allen and their very best dessert! But if a three course meal isn’t your thing then how about baking? With various categories, including some for the under 10s and 10-16s, there is the Leamington ‘Bake off’ which is judged by local bakers and chefs.
Unexpectedly this year when we arrived at the festival there was a surprise guest, sat surrounded by his books was Antonio Carluccio! The master of Italian cooking was there to sign his books and soon created quite a crowd. Obviously I couldn’t pass up the chance to meet the man himself and get a book signed…
Once you are full of all the amazing food on offer there is also live music to sit back and enjoy a drink to.
Leamington Food & Drink Festival is a great day out (apart from the downpour this year) and I would recommend it to families and foodies alike. Take a look at some of what was on offer below.
